As we all know, cybersecurity has become an important topic of discussion as fraudsters rapidly adapt their tactics. As scammers evolve their methods, we as consumers must be prepared to protect our information in these changing times. The safety and security of your accounts is a top priority of ours here at Centra. I can’t stress enough how important it is to remain diligent when it comes to keeping your personal information and finances safe from fraudsters.
I wanted to take this time again to assure you that Centra takes the utmost care in handling your personal information. We regularly conduct routine testing and maintenance on our databases to ensure your information remains secure. We also provide you with tools and information such as our Fraud Protection & Prevention Center and Guía sobre el robo de identidad to assist you in the event you suspect you’re a victim of fraud. As your trusted financial institution, we’re here for you. In addition to keeping you and your money safe, Centra also routinely works to save our Members time and money. Recently, we adjusted our loan-to-value (LTV) requirements for private mortgage insurance (PMI) which, in turn, helped nearly 200 Members be able to save more than $1,004,315 over the life of their loans. This change also makes home ownership more affordable for individuals with lower down payments. Our balanced approach and risk assessment also means we were able to make this change without any meaningful risk to our Credit Union. We’re always looking for opportunities to make a positive difference for our amazing Members, and this is just one recent example.
Over the past few months, our Contact Center has been enhancing our system to provide Members with a smoother experience when calling in. These upgrades include call queue improvements, security enhancements, Spanish language options, and more dynamic callback options. In addition, our bank-by-phone and online chat features have been upgraded. You can read more about these enhancements to our Contact Center here.
Finally, as a democratically-operated credit union, we place a high value on the importance of voting. That extends outside the credit union as well. In that spirit, I would like to encourage you to make your voice heard by voting in the upcoming U.S. elections on Tuesday, November 5.
