Safely Celebrate Small Business Saturday
The COVID-19 pandemic has created challenges for everyone. With so much Pandemic Fatigue, the holidays seem extra special this year, but safety still remains top of mind.
While major retailers have adapted to the current situation by expanding Black Friday to a month-long celebration, the Saturday after Thanksgiving is still known as Small Business Saturday.
Local businesses have felt the brunt of the COVID-19 pandemic as they have closed their doors or altered their operations to keep their customers safe. Here are a few ways you can #ThinkLocal and celebrate Small Business Saturday:
- Spread the love on social media. Many have faced financial difficulties this year, so spreading the word about your favorite business is a low-cost way to show your support. By commenting and sharing posts from the business, you help more people in your network discover what makes that company special.
- Shop local! As you do your holiday shopping this year, keep local businesses in mind. Most stores sell gift cards online, so you can stock up and let your friends and family pick something out later on.
- Order carryout or delivery. After spending some time in the kitchen preparing for Thanksgiving, take a break and let a local restaurant do the cooking for you!
- Include local businesses in your acts of kindness. Do you want to show your support for healthcare workers or first responders during the pandemic? Order coffee from a local shop or schedule a pizza delivery.
- Take advantage of virtual events and programs. Many local businesses are still offering ways to engage with your community virtually. A lot goes into hosting a virtual event, so join in!
