COVID-19 Update from Centra CEO
Dear Member, As your President and CEO, you have entrusted me with the responsibility to lead your Credit Union. Today, I find myself in a difficult position. Our State and Federal Government, Health Officials, and local leaders continue to tell us that that the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) is a rapidly escalating concern. As such, and due to the potential impacts to our Members and Team Members, we believe it is in the best interest for Centra to temporarily limit access to our branch lobbies to promote social distancing. This is a decision that many banks and Credit Unions have come to in recent days as our industry looks to do their part to protect our communities and our great country. Our drive thru facilities will remain open and operate as they always have. This will allow you to continue making deposits, cashing checks, and managing your accounts. We do understand that certain transactions require a deeper conversation, so we will continue to meet Members in the branch lobbies by appointment. These temporary changes will begin on Thursday, March 19 and continue through at least Sunday, April 5. This may be extended based on the recommendations of health officials. |
You will also continue to have 24/7 access to your accounts through Online and Mobile Banking, CentraPhone, and our network of more than 30,000 ATMs.
As a Credit Union, our sole reason for existence is to serve our Members. The steps that we are taking were not taken lightly. These are unprecedented times, and your Leadership Team is actively looking for ways that we can manage to the health and well-being of everyone associated with Centra. Since 1940, we have adhered to the idea of “People Helping People.” That will not change. In fact, Centra will soon be offering a variety of assistance opportunities for Members impacted by the economic impact of COVID-19. This includes relief loans for our Members and Business Members and waived “Skip-A-Pay” fees for loan payments. To further help, Centra is eliminating its charge for overdraft transfers from savings accounts. We are also available to work with you on your individual needs, whether that is related to spend, save, borrow, invest, and protect your money
I trust that you will support our decision, and I thank you in advance for your anticipated flexibility. Centra will continue to navigate the situation and will, as we have for nearly eighty years, always be on the lookout for ways that we can help you manage your money.
Please join us as we work together as one Nation to try to halt the spread of this virus.
Thank you,
Rick Silvers
